Man Charged In Fatal Christmas Eve Stabbing In Roseland

CHICAGO (STMW) -- A Roseland man has been charged with stabbing a man to death on Christmas Eve last year in the Far South Side neighborhood, Chicago Police announced Sunday.

Jeremy Givens, 26, faces one felony count of first-degree murder in the fatal stabbing of 42-year-old Eugene Bailey on Dec. 24, 2015, according to police and the Cook County medical examiner's office.

Givens is accused of stabbing Bailey in the chest after the two got into an argument about 5:30 p.m. in the 300 block of West 111th Place, police said.

Bailey, of the 1200 block of West 115th Street, was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn in critical condition and died at 7:51 p.m., authorities said.

Givens, of the 200 block of West 111th Place, was scheduled to appear in bond court Sunday.
