Man Attempts To Lure Teenage Girl Into His Car In Tinley Park

CHICAGO (CBS) -- A man offered a teenage girl walking on the sidewalk in south suburban Tinley Park a ride in his car Sunday afternoon.

At 3:30 p.m., the man attempted to convince a 17-year-old girl to get into his car as she walking in the 17200 block of Oak Park Avenue, according to a statement from Tinley Park police.

The man, thought to be in his 50s, was driving a red four-door car southbound on Oak Park Avenue when he spotted the girl, pulled into a nearby parking lot and turned the car around to drive into a Subway parking lot to talk to her, police said.

He asked the girl if she needed a ride and said that she looked like she needed company before exiting the lot and traveling northbound on Oak Park Avenue, once he realized 17-year-old was trying to take down his license plate information, police said.

The girl described the man as white, with a large build and white or blond hair.

Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact Tinley Park police at (708) 444-5300.
