Man Found Dead Of Apparent Overdose Inside Macy's State Street Store

CHICAGO (CBS) -- A man was found dead Monday morning at the Macy's flagship store in the Loop.

Police said a security guard making rounds while the store was closed found a homeless man dead in a restroom around 6:20 a.m.

The man, who appeared to be 22 to 24 years old, apparently died of a drug overdose, police said.

Detectives were conducting a death investigation.

It was unclear how long the body was in the bathroom.

In a statement, Macy's spokeswoman Andrea Schwartz said the store was "reviewing the incident as well as conducting a protocol refresher training with our security colleagues."

'We have clear protocol and procedures in place with respect to store closing and opening. We take these matters very seriously."
