Lyons Man Hit With Hammer, Death Ruled A Homicide

CHICAGO (STMW) -- The death of a man in west suburban Lyons on Friday has been ruled a homicide.

Lyons police responded to a domestic disturbance call after a person said he hit his step-father with a hammer in the 8500 block of West 47th Street, according to Lyons spokesman Ray Hanania. The person was arrested after he called police again to say he was at a local gas station.

Lance C. Wright, 55, was pronounced dead at Loyola University Medical Center at 10:20 p.m., according to the Cook County medical examiner's office. An autopsy on Saturday found he died of blunt head trauma from an assault. His death was ruled a homicide.

Wright lived in the 8500 block of West 47th Street.

The Lyons Police Department said more information, including charges, would be released Sunday.
