Lurie Children's Hospital unveils new mobile health unit
CHICAGO (CBS) -- Lurie Children's Hospital unveiled a new mobile health unit to help serve more patients.
It will be wheelchair accessible and has multiple clinic rooms and bathrooms.
Doctors and nurses will be able to see more patients across Chicago for physicals, well-child visits, immunizations, and even asthma care.
"A good health system requires more than a great hospital," said Dr. Tom Shanley, the hospital's president and CEO. "To have a real impact on our community requires that we go out and we go into those communities."
The $600,000 health unit was paid for by federal dollars. It is set to begin serving people in two weeks.
