Person of interest arrested in stabbing of teen girl at Northwest Indiana baseball field

LOWELL, Ind. (CBS) — Authorities have arrested a person of interest in the stabbing of a teenage girl during a baseball game in Lowell, Indiana, on Saturday.

The Lake County Sheriff's Department identified the person of interest as 26-year-old Dimas Gabriel Yanez.

The incident reportedly happened at the baseball fields near the VFW hall at 17401 Morse Street. 

The Lake County Sheriff's Department said it was conducting an "extensive search" after someone was seen after the incident in the wooded area behind homes in the 6100 block of Oak Valley Drive.

Police warned they considered Yanez armed and dangerous during the search.

Lake County Sheriff's officers arrested Yanez Sunday in a cornfield near 120th and Iowa. They say just before he was arrested, Yanez was getting his hair cut to change his appearance.
