Listen: Coach Q At His Blistering Finest
(CBS) It's well-known that Blackhawks coach Joel Quenneville has a fiery persona and is prone to using foul language. That, of course, makes him no different from many in professional sports (sit in the first row of Bulls seats near coach Tom Thibodeau at your own risk), but it's nonetheless entertaining.
Sun-Times writer and 670 The Score contributor Mark Lazerus recently explored the effect of Quenneville's language on the Blackhawks in an interesting story.
"We're used to it now," Chicago winger Patrick Kane told Lazerus. "To the point where if he says something, you nudge the guy next to you on the bench and laugh about the thing he says. He's got some good comments back there. We enjoy it. Honestly, it gets us into the game, too."
Now, Spiegel and Mannelly Show executive producer Jay Zawaski is bringing the intensity even more into focus. Zawaski created the audio gem below by capturing sound from Epix's "Road to the Winter Classic" series that preceded Chicago playing Washington at Nationals Park on New Year's Day.
The best part? All this sound is from one Blackhawks contest, against the Winnipeg Jets.
Take a listen.
