Levine: White Sox Reliever Lindstrom On The Mend
By Bruce Levine-
(CBS) Reliever Matt Lindstom will throw a side session Tuesday after missing five days with a strained oblique.
Lindstrom will be one of the White Sox's primary set-up men for closer Nate Jones in 2014. He said Monday that he has never had any oblique issues in the past.
"I hope nothing else will go wrong because I have been doing strength exercises," Lindstrom said. "I never dealt with this before so that is why I alerted them early."
Having saved 23 games for the Astros in 2010, Lindstrom is being considered the backup to Jones, who also was dealing with an early camp upper leg strain. Lindstrom appeared in 76 games for Sox in 2013, and his 1.21 road ERA is the lowest of any reliever in baseball since 2011.
Lindstrom hopes to get back into Cactus League action by the end of the week.
"I am planning on having a big year," he said. "This is what I need to do right now to get ready. I have worked hard all offseason, so something like this is just a small roadblock."
