LeBron-To-Cleveland Rumors Are Shaking Up Vegas Books
(CBS) It's still anyone's guess where superstar LeBron James decides to play next season, but the speculation has already caused ripples in Las Vegas.
As rumors swirl that James is open to returning to play in Cleveland, some forward-thinking (or money-wasting, depending on your point of view) folks have thrown down cash on the Cavaliers to win win the NBA title in 2015, according to multiple reports. Because they've done it so early and before James has decided, the bettors got high odds -- between 40-1 and 60-1 at most sports books.
Now, that action has caused some Vegas books to backtrack.
The Cavs' title odds are down to 10-1 at the MGM, per ESPN.com, and they've been cut from 60-1 to 30-1 at the Las Vegas Superbook.
One oddsmaker called the Cavs the "biggest liability" in Vegas right now.
If James does pull a surprise and returns home to play with the likes of Kyrie Irving and Andrew Wiggins, Cleveland would probably be favored to win a weak Eastern Conference, but they'd still face really tough competition from the best of the West -- meaning the bet's a longshot on several levels.
