Classroom Fire At May Whitney Elementary School In Lake Zurich; No Class Monday, Tuesday

CHICAGO (CBS)-- May Whitney Elementary School will be closed Monday and Tuesday after a fire broke out in a classroom.

The Lake Zurich Fire Department confirmed the fire on the second floor of the school has been put out.

Fire is out at May Whitney - fire crews remain on scene. No injuries.

Fire officials said the cause of the fire is "electrical in nature." Officials also said the fire was extinguished in under 20 minutes.

The school is closed due to smoke and building cleanup.

Fire officials said no one was injured.

The parent teacher conferences scheduled for Tuesday are cancelled and will be rescheduled to a later date, school officials said.

School officials announced that childcare services will be available through the YMCA fro families in need. Parents can call the YMCA at 847-438-5300.
