Kris Bryant Is Raking At Double-A Tennessee
(CBS) Cubs elite prospect Kris Bryant is continuing to state his case for a move up the farm system, as he has been named the Southern League player of the week for his recent torrid hitting.
The 22-year-old Bryant batted .464 with four homers, 14 RBIs, 12 RBIs and eight walks last week in seven games last week at Double-A Tennessee.
Bryant is hitting .331 with 10 homers and 29 RBIs on the season.
It's unlikely that Bryant will be called up to the majors anytime soon, as the Cubs' front office has reiterated time and again that it won't rush prospects. As the Cubs' top pick in last June's first-year player draft, Bryant has only played in 72 professional games.
