Korean Pitcher Yoon Auditions For Cubs

(CBS) The Cubs on Tuesday scouted Korean free-agent pitcher Suk-Min Yoon in Arizona, as he threw about 30 pitches, MLB.com reported.

A client of Scott Boras who was injury-plagued last season, Yoon is seeking a multi-year contract, according to MLB.com. Battling shoulder problems, Yoon went 3-6 with an ERA of 4.00 this past season. He was 17-5 with a 2.45 ERA in 2011. The Orioles have already offered him, MLB.com reported.

Yoon has split time as a starter and reliever. With the recent signing of Jason Hammel, the Cubs added another hurler to contend for the fourth and fifth spots in the rotation, but nothing is set in stone. Jeff Samardzija, Travis Wood, Edwin Jackson and Jake Arrieta will figure into the rotation mix as well.
