Kirk Joins Thousands In Stair Climb Up Willis Tower
(CBS) -- U.S. Senator Mark Kirk joined thousands of others in climbing the Willis Tower this morning to raise money for the group that helped him recover from a stroke.
The Republican climbed 37 of the 103 floors to the SkyDeck.
He was joined by a group he calls his Battle Buddies - wounded veterans and others who've gone through the Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago, like he did after his stroke three years ago.
This is the fourth time Kirk has climbed this skyscraper and he hopes to climb the Statue of Liberty - which is shorter - sometime soon.
Also taking part of SkyRise Chicago was Cameron Zick, who lost all movement below the neck after a fall while mountain climbing in Colorado five months ago.
He says thanks to the RIC, he was able to walk just 19 days after his injury. Today, he climbed all 103 flights without his cane.
Zick says his ultimate goal is to again climb the mountain that he fell off of
