Ken Doll Cake Creates Facebook Social Media Storm

CHICAGO (CBS) -- A cake depicting Ken dressed more like Barbie created a social media storm for a California bakery.

At first, Sacrameneto, Ca.-based Freeport Bakery's cake sparked anger on Facebook from people who complained the cake was making a political statement for the transgender community.

Ken's looking good.

But that tide quickly turned into a groundswell of support for the Ken Doll Cake, which features Barbie's beau dressed in a pink butter cream frosting dress and tiara.

"We've got more coming just for this weekend, it seems like just in the last two or three hours, we've actually got more orders," head decorator Carol Clevenger told CBS station KOVR-TV.

Many of the angry comments were deleted.

There were plenty of supporters.

"Rock that dress, Ken! Great to see a business that's not scared to include everyone," Lisa Meehan posted on the bakery's Facebook page.
