Post-Rally Cleanup Begins

CHICAGO (CBS) -- Five million people can make a bit of a mess.

The Chicago Park District will have its work cut out for it, following the Cubs rally that drew literally millions of fans Friday to Hutchinson Field in Grant Park.

Parts of the field were trampled to mud.

"It was pretty soupy out there. Towards the middle, it's basically standing water," Cubs fan Brad Talbot said.

The Chicago Park District said it was working on an estimate of what it will cost to put Grant Park back into the shape it was before the rally. That may take a week, after all of the staging has been removed.

The Cubs will be responsible for the cost, park district officials said.

Meanwhile, city crews will keep busy cleaning off some of the downtown streets that led to the celebration.
