John Fox Returns To Bears Practice, But Jay Cutler Sits Out
By Chris Emma--
LAKE FOREST, Ill. (CBS) -- One day after battling a brutal stomach bug, Bears coach John Fox returned Thursday to work at Halas Hall.
Fox's Bears (0-3) continued their preparation for the Lions (1-2) without quarterback Jay Cutler, who was present on the practice field but not participating. Cutler practiced in a limited basis Wednesday, and it's worth noting that he wasn't wearing a protective brace on his thumb sprain.
"We just didn't want to aggravate it more," said Fox, who confirmed that Cutler was held out to ensure healing.
One could presume Cutler will be listed as questionable come Friday's release of the official injury report for the Bears' contest Sunday.
During his day away from Halas Hall, Fox wasn't disconnected from the team by any means. He remained home and active on the iPad, studying up for Sunday's game.
The Bears were also missing Jeremy Langford Langford (ankle), Eddie Goldman (ankle), Danny Trevathan (thumb) and Ka'Deem Carey (hamstring). Alshon Jeffery (knee, hamstring), Josh Sitton (shoulder), Jonathan Bullard (toe), Willie Young (knee), Harold Jones-Quartey (concussion), Sherrick McMani (hamstring) and Tracy Porter (knee) were all limited.
Kickoff between the Bears and Lions comes at noon on Sunday from Soldier Field.
