Jenkins, Sandberg, Williams To Throw Out 1st Pitches At Cubs' Home Opener
(CBS) Cubs legends Fergie Jenkins, Ryne Sandberg and Billy Williams will throw out the ceremonial first pitches and sing the seventh-inning stretch at the team's home opener against the Reds on April 11. Wayne Messmer will also sing the national anthem at his 32nd consecutive home opener at Wrigley Field.
The Cubs are also encouraging fans to arrive earlier than usual for the 7:05 p.m. first pitch, as new security measures, including metal detectors, are in place. With that in mind, gates will open at 4:35 p.m. on April 11 instead of the usual two hours before the start time.
The Cubs' home opener will be carried on 670 The Score's airwaves, with pregame starting at 6:30 p.m.
