Jake Arrieta Fires Back At Pirates Fan Account On Twitter: Your Hope 'Doesn't Matter'

(CBS) Cubs right-hander Jake Arrieta produced a second half of the season that no one's seen in MLB history, and that has given him plenty of confidence entering his start against the Pirates in the National League wild-card game Wednesday night.

So much confidence that he's firing back at a Pirates fan account on Twitter.

Take a look at what Arrieta tweeted Sunday afternoon.

Arrieta finished the season 22-6 with a 1.77 ERA, including an ERA mark of 0.75 after the All-Star break, the best in baseball history.

This only adds to the spiciness of the Cubs-Pirates matchup, which was intense down the stretch of the regular season. A hard slide by Chicago's Chris Coghlan led to a season-ending injury for Pittsburgh infielder Jung Ho Kang in September. And after winning a contest at Wrigley Field later, Pirates closer Mark Melancon said the Pirates had better fans.
