IU Student From Libertyville Dies At Sorority House
CHICAGO (CBS) -- An Indiana University student from north suburban Libertyville died at her sorority house Thursday night.
WISH-TV in Indianapolis reports 20-year-old Kelly Ann Hackendahl was found unresponsive at the Zeta Tau Alpha sorority house around 8 p.m. Thursday. Paramedics tried to revive her for about an hour, but were unsuccessful.
A university spokesman told WISH-TV foul play was not suspected.
Hackendahl was a junior studying education.
The sorority said it "extends our deepest sympathy" to Hackendahl's family and friends.
"We are devastated to lose one of our collegiate sisters. As you can imagine, this is an incredibly difficult time for our chapter at IU," the sorority said in a statement on its website.
"Our ZTA chapter at Indiana University and her sisters all over the country are grieving her loss," the sorority added on its Facebook page. "We want to express our gratitude to the university staff and entire Hoosier community for their outpouring of love and support during this devastating time."
The university said counseling services would be available for students through the school's Counseling and Psychological Services program.
