2 seriously hurt after crash on southbound Dan Ryan Expressway at Taylor Street

CHICAGO (CBS) – Two people were seriously injured following a two-crash on the Dan Ryan Expressway Friday morning.

The crash happened around 1:15 a.m. in the southbound lanes at Taylor Street.  

Illinois State Police said troopers responded to the crash where a passenger vehicle struck the rear of a truck-tractor semi-trailer before hitting a concrete median barrier. 

The driver of the car was ejected from the vehicle and the passenger was partially ejected. Both were taken to an area hospital with life-threatening injuries, ISP said.

The driver of the semi reported no injuries at the scene. 

All southbound lanes were closed for investigation and traffic was diverted off Taylor Street. All lanes have reopened around 7:04 a.m.
