Indiana Pastor 'Feels Terrible' After Arrest For Bringing Gun To Midway
(CBS) -- A 35-year-old Northwest Indiana pastor arrested at Midway Airport Monday for trying to carry a gun through security now says he feels terrible about the incident.
A statement on the Facebook page of the Sieon Roberts Ministries calls it an "innocent but shameful oversight" - that Roberts failed to remove his loaded 9-millimeter handgun from his backpack.
The statement says Roberts had just concluded a "tireless weekend of various speaking engagements accompanied by travel."
And it pointed out that "although Roberts has an Indiana permit to carry a concealed weapon, he maintains his position against gun violence. Nearby auto burglaries prompted Roberts to secure a handgun for safety precautions only," according to the statement, which quotes Roberts:
"I feel terrible about the incident that occurred at the airport, and I take full responsibility – it was an innocent mistake that I regret."
The statement has since been taken down from Facebook. Roberts has not responded to any of our calls or email.
