Hunger-Relief Organizations Encouraged To Apply For 'Chiditarod' Grants
(CBS) -- The Chiditarod shopping cart race – a food drive and fundraiser in which participants dress in wild costumes -- is looking to give cash raised this year to local organizations that fight hunger.
WBBM's Mike Krauser reports organizers are accepting nominees through the event's website.
The Chiditarod celebrated 10 years of craziness in March. This year's event generated 27,000 pounds of food items and raising $25,000. Now it's time to pass it out.
Chiditarod is offering grants to not-for-profits that are working on innovative ways to fight hunger.
