Here's how much snow fell around the Chicago area Thursday
CHICAGO (CBS) — The first snowfall event of the season for the Chicago area delivered widespread totals of 1 to 3 inches, and up to 4 inches in parts of Chicago and Lake County.
A total of 4.2 inches of snow fell in north suburban Evanston, 4 inches in Chicago's Edgewater and West Ridge neighborhoods and north suburban Wauconda, 3.9 inches in Bull Valley in McHenry County, and 3.7 inches in north suburban Lake Bluff.

At O'Hare International Airport, where Chicago's official snow totals are measured, a total of 2.7 inches fell on Thursday, making it the snowiest day since Jan. 12. Midway International Airport saw 2.4 inches.
For areas in Northwest Indiana near Gary, Valparaiso and Rensselaer, higher snow totals of over 3 inches were expected.
A winter weather advisory was in place earlier in the Chicago area and northwest Indiana, but has since expired.
Temperatures rose above freezing areawide Thursday afternoon and will hold steady or even rise further overnight into Friday morning. This will continue to improve road conditions, and also melt snow from backyards.

Brisk northwest winds continue under cloudy skies tonight and Friday, dropping wind chills into the 20s and 30s.
A few breaks of sun return this weekend with milder temperatures near 50 for the Bears game Sunday.
Next week, the CBS News Chicago First Alert Weather team is tracking an extended period of colder-than-normal weather that appears to begin Tuesday and carry us through Thanksgiving weekend. Another round of snow will be possible on Thanksgiving.
