Man Surrenders After Taking Hostages In Portage Park Neighborhood

CHICAGO (CBS) -- A man surrendered to Chicago police Friday afternoon, more than four hours after taking two people hostage in the Portage Park neighborhood.
Around 10 a.m., police received a call of an armed man holding two people against their will inside a home in the 6300 block of West Roscoe Street.
SWAT teams swarmed the street, setting up barricades, and surrounding the home while trying to talk the man out of the home.
Around 2:45 p.m., the suspect came out of the house, and SWAT officers told him to stay on the ground, but he then ran back into the house
Shortly before 4 p.m., police were able to place the suspect into custody.
