Hospital Files Restraining Order To Kick Riot Fest Out Of Douglas Park
(CBS) -- A local hospital is making a last ditch effort to keep Riot Fest out of Douglas Park.
Saint Anthony Hospital filed a temporary restraining order to stop next weekend's festival from happening. The hospital says it's worried about disruptions to patients and staff.
Supporters say Riot Fest is good for the community and this fight is about just one thing.
"This is about money," says 12th Ward Alderman George Cardenas. "This whole issue is about money because they went through the process of permits. Otherwise early on that could've been handled and the city could have been informed that there were some issues and that could've been worked out."
Riot Fest says the hospital requested $158,000 not to sue
"No amount of money could ever take care of what we need to get done," says Jim Sifuentes, vice president of mission and community development at Saint Anthony's. "It's about patient safety and the suit is to bring attention to this and stop, hopefully, Riot Fest."
This is the first time the festival is scheduled to take place in Douglas Park. It was previously held in Humboldt Park.
