Highs in the 80s to end the week in Chicago

CHICAGO (CBS) — After a hot finish to the week, Chicago cools down for the weekend and next week.

Breezy warm winds pick up Friday and send temperatures in the 80s for the afternoon.

There is an elevated fire danger due to the dry vegetation and breezy conditions. This will be the last hot day for a while as cooler air settles in for the weekend.

Highs on Saturday and Sunday will be in the 60s.

A little rain is possible for Saturday, but it won't be a washout rain.

Cooler breezes arrive for the start of the Chicago Marathon with start temperatures in the 50s. Stronger wind gusts develop for Sunday afternoon and could reach as high as 35 mph.

Cold weather continues next week, Monday and Tuesday will be in the 50s. Lows in the 30s, a frost/freeze is likely for areas away from the lake both Monday and Tuesday night.
