Man Found Dead In Parking Garage Was Real-Estate Lawyer From Highland Park

CHICAGO (CBS) -- The Cook County Medical Examiner says a body found in a burning parking garage in River North early Tuesday morning was 60-year-old Louis S. Cohen of Highland Park.

Cohen was a prominent real estate attorney in Chicago. He most recently worked for the firm Foley and Lardner, whose offices were around the corner from the parking garage where his body was found, in the 300 block of North LaSalle.

WBBM's Steve Miller reports.

The Foley and Lardner website shared a statement mentioning Cohen's passing, saying: "Lou was an accomplished and well-known real estate attorney in Chicago and the Midwest.  His ability to manage complex real estate transactions was a great service to our institutional and other major real estate clients. He had a strong legal mind and made great contributions to our office in the short time he was with us."

The statement also said Cohen joined the firm's Business Law Department eight months ago, and worked for the law firm DLA Piper for 27 years.

The medical examiner says the cause and manner of his death are still pending.
