Waves of showers and thunderstorms to move into Chicago area
CHICAGO (CBS) — An upper-level disturbance will bring a chance for showers and thunderstorms to the Chicago area early Monday morning.
A front will stall near the Wisconsin line through Tuesday morning. As small waves ride the front, the area will have chances for scattered rain and thunderstorm activity.
Some storms could be strong or severe on Monday with the heat and humidity in place. The Storm Prediction Center has the northwest areas at Level 2 out of 5 for severe weather chances, while the rest of the area is at Level 1.
Once the front drops south of the Chicago area, a gusty wind off the lake will increase from Tuesday afternoon through Wednesday, generating high waves and rip currents.
Conditions will then be cooler and less humid for several days and into the weekend.
