Hainesville Man Busted For 800 Pounds Of Marijuana In Idaho

DUBOIS, Idaho (AP) — Idaho State Police say a traffic stop in eastern Idaho led to the discovery of 800 pounds of marijuana worth more than $3 million.

Police in a news release on Friday say 37-year-old Jonathan D. Speckman of Hainesville, Illinois, was taken into custody on Dec. 15 on suspicion of trafficking marijuana.

Police say Speckman was pulled over for a traffic violation on Interstate 15 near Dubois. Authorities say a drug-sniffing dog detected the presence of drugs, and police obtained a search warrant for a pickup and trailer.

A Clark County Sheriff's Office spokeswoman says Speckman was being held on Saturday in the Clark County Jail with a bond of $100,000.

It's not clear from online records if Speckman has an attorney.
