Group uses Divvy bikes in string of robberies

CHICAGO (CBS) -- Chicago Police are searching for a group of robbers using a very different type of getaway vehicle -- a Divvy bike. 

At least 15 victims have been targeted around the Loop and South Loop since June 19. 

All of the incidents happened overnight or early in the morning, between 1 a.m. and 7 a.m. 

In one case the suspects even stole a car.

  • 100 block of South State Street on June 19 at 2:30 AM. 
  • 400 block of South LaSalle Street on June 25 at 1:50 AM. 
  • 0-100 block of North Michigan Avenue on June 25 at 2:04 AM. 
  • 0-100 block of West Congress Parkway on June 25 at 2:16 AM. 
  • 100 block of North Dearborn Avenue on June 25 at 2:40 AM. 
  • 0-100 block of East Madison Sreet on June 25 at 3:00 AM. 
  • 0-100 block of South Wells Street on June 25 at 4:22 AM. 
  • 600 block of South Plymouth Court on June 26 at 5:20 AM. 
  • 600 block of South State Street on June 26 at 5:30 AM. 
  • 0-100 block of South Michigan Avenue on June 26 at 5:35 AM. 
  • 1100 block of South Michigan Avenue on June 26 at 5:50 AM. 
  • 1100 block of South Michigan Avenue on June 26 at 6:00 AM. 
  • 1100 block of South Wabash Avenue on June 26 at 6:50 AM. 
  • 100 block of North State Street on July 7 at 1:05 AM. 
  • 0-100 block of West Washington Street on July 7 at 1:45 AM. 

The suspects were described as two to four African American and White Hispanic males between 15-25 years of age wearing dark hooded sweatshirts, dark jeans, and black ski masks.
