Grayslake Hotel Evacuated For Meth Lab Bust
CHICAGO (STMW) -- One person was taken into custody Monday after officers busted a meth lab at a hotel in north suburban Grayslake.
Officers with the Lake County Metropolitan Enforcement Group were tipped off that there was a methamphetamine lab at the Comfort Suites at 1775 E. Belvidere Rd. in Grayslake, according to a statement from Illinois State Police.
The suspect told investigators he had meth precursors and meth in his hotel room, and officers also learned there may have been anhydrous ammonia in the room, police said.
The hotel has been evacuated and police said late Monday that the clean-up of meth-related chemicals could take several hours to complete, police said. Grayslake police and fire officials, and the Illinois State Police Meth Response Team all responded to the scene.
The suspect, a male whose age was not known, was taken into custody, police said.
