Gov. Quinn Attends Wedding Of Same-Sex Couple Together For 50 Years
CHICAGO (CBS) -- With gay marriage now the law across the state of Illinois, Governor Quinn has appeared at the Chicago wedding of two men who have been a couple for five decades.
The wedding at the Museum of Contemporary Art joined Jim Darby and Patrick Bova.
Bova was asked if he felt any different being a newlywed.
"Well, I'm a little unsteady on my feet. But... yeah, I guess so. I don't know. Come on, after 50 years...."
Governor Quinn attended the wedding.
Quinn had put out a statement saying his Republican opponent Bruce Rauner had said he would've vetoed the gay marriage bill.
"I think it's regrettable that anyone would even think of vetoing the bill once it passed. It was a very important step forward for Illinois," said Quinn.
Bruce Rauner's campaign released a statement that says Rauner "doesn't have a social issues agenda, and doesn't have an agenda to change the law on gay marriage."
Rauner says Illinois voters should have decided the issue.
