Google's Answer To The Question: 'Why Is Illinois ...'

CHICAGO (CBS) -- This certainly doesn't reflect well on the Land Of Lincoln.

Look what happens when folks using Google type in the words, "Why is Illinois ...

Yes, the first "autocomplete" option from Google is "so corrupt." (We first noticed this from the tweet by @amazing_maps pictured at the top.)

It's not that Google doesn't like us.

From the Google support page, here is how the search engine determines the results: "As you type, Autocomplete predicts and displays queries to choose from. The search queries that you see as part of Autocomplete are a reflection of the search activity of users and the content of web pages indexed by Google."

Translated: Illinois has a bad reputation on the Internet. Also note that other key searches reference the fact that the state is "broke."

Of course, one could argue that it is well-deserved with the revolving door of governors, alderman and other pols who have been sent to prison over the years. That and the multi-billion dollar pension shortfall for government workers.
