Good Samaritan Turns Into Would-Be Kidnapper Of Woman Motorist: South Elgin Police

(CBS) -- A man who stopped to help a stranded woman motorist fix a flat tire early Thursday then attempted to pull her out of her vehicle, South Elgin police say.

The intended victim, an 18-year-old woman, told police she was driving shortly after midnight when she had a flat tire. A stranger came up to her and said he would help her change the tire. He made the repair after the woman pulled into the parking lot of a Home Depot on Randall Road, police said.

But then the man "attempted to pull her out of her vehicle," said the woman, who fended off the attacker. He fled southbound on Randall Road in a gray or green Saturn-type vehicle, police said.

Police on Thursday afternoon released a composite sketch of the hooded suspect.

Anyone with information is asked to call (847) 741-2151.
