Man Shot, Critically Wounded In Gompers Park On Northwest Side

CHICAGO (CBS) -- A man was shot and critically wounded late Sunday in Gompers Park in the North Mayfair neighborhood.
Several people were playing volleyball in the park at Foster and Kostner avenues at 5:59 p.m., when witnesses said they heard three shots.
The witnesses said they could not pinpoint the source of the shots.
One 43-year-old man was struck in his abdomen and back, police said.
The victim was taken to AMITA Health St. Francis Hospital in Evanston. The Fire Department said his condition was critical, but stable.
No one was in custody late Sunday afternoon. Area Five detectives were investigating.
