Police Investigate Report Of Girl Duct Taped Inside Van In Woodlawn

CHICAGO (CBS) -- An 11-year-old girl who escaped a kidnapping attempt on Monday told police she saw another girl tied up in the suspect's van.

WBBM Newsradio's Bernie Tafoya reports, according to a community alert from Chicago Police, the girl was walking home from school in the 1000 block of East 63rd Street shortly before 4 p.m., when a man grabbed her from behind, and tried to pull her into a white full-sized van with painted windows.

The girl said the man who tried to abduct her was wearing a black ski mask, a black long-sleeved shirt, and black pants.

Police said the girl fought back and was able to escape, but told investigators she saw a black girl, who appeared to be around 12 years old, screaming for help in the back of the van, with her hands and legs duct taped.

Police said investigators have not received a missing child report for anyone about that girl's age and description.

Anyone with information should call Area Central detectives at 312-747-8380.
