No Bond For Geneva Woman Charged With Poisoning Husband
CHICAGO (STMW) -- A 53-year-old west suburban woman who has been charged with murder for poisoning her husband at their Geneva home was ordered held without bond Wednesday.
Julia L. Gutierrez was charged with first-degree murder for the death of 53-year-old Eduardo Gutierrez, according to the Kane County state's attorney's office.
Sometime between Tuesday and Thursday, Julia Gutierrez mixed the sedative Temazepam into a drink and gave it to her husband, who was unaware of the drug, according to prosecutors and Geneva police. He consumed the drink and later died.
Officers were called for a well-being check at the couple's home in the 0-100 block of Crissey Avenue in Geneva at 6:19 p.m. Thursday, authorities said. When they arrived, they found Eduardo Gutierrez dead inside and his wife "in need of medical assistance." She was taken to a local hospital.
The results of an autopsy Friday for Eduardo Gutierrez were inconclusive, with results pending toxicological tests and the police investigation.
Julia Gutierrez was ordered held without bond in court Wednesday, according to the state's attorney's office.
