Shelton Curtis, 22, is considered armed and dangerous, Gary police said in a news release.

Eighteen-year-old James Powell and Raymond Washington-Whitehead, 17, were shot and killed last Thursday at 1168 Lane Street.

Police say Curtis, the suspect, was charged Monday night with two counts of murder. He is still at large. Anyone with knowledge of his whereabouts is urged to call Gary police at (219) 881-1260.

The home where the teens were killed was broken into two days after the murders and then went up in flames on Monday. Police say the murders, the burglary and the fire are not related.
