Funeral Service Held For Daughter Of Community Activist Andrew Holmes
CHICAGO (CBS) -- Friends and family gathered to pay respects and say goodbye to the daughter of anti-violence activist Andrew Holmes, reports WBBM's Nancy Harty.
Tamara Sword was remembered as a loving mother to her five children. Congresswoman Robyn Kelly choked up as she expressed her sorrow to Tamara's dad.
"It's one of life's cruel ironies that after dedicating his life to preventing gun violence and supporting the families of victims of violence that Andrew and his family are today in need of that support," Kelly said.
Holmes told the crowd, many wearing purple or lavender in support, about how he would promise to watch over his daughter over the years.
"I say to my daughter as she rests, I am still going to take care of that," Holmes said.
Holmes pledged he will find who is responsible for her shooting death at an Indianapolis gas station two weeks ago.
