Freight train derails in Riverdale
CHICAGO (CBS)-- A freight train derailed in Riverdale Friday morning.
Three cars derailed, and two of the cars were on their sides. According to authorities, crews working on the side of the tracks were not near the train. There were no injuries.
CBS 2's Asal Rezaei reports from Riverdale where several train cars left the tracks this morning.
Two parts lay on their side, the one in front of the two on the ground tipped over a bit on its side.
Washington Elementary School is right across the street from the tracks. Authorities said everyone there is okay and there are no evacuations are underway at this time.
It's not a hazmat situation. Cranes are working to get the train cars off the tracks.
The derailment happened near 140th, near a residential area.
