Fr. Pfleger, Rev, Jackson Hold Prayer Service On Ferguson Teen's Death

(CBS) -- Rev Jesse Jackson joined Father Michael Pfleger at St. Sabina Tuesday night in a special service that centered on the killing of Michael Brown.

It had been planned as a Thanksgiving service but because of events in Ferguson, it was called a service for justice. Fr. Pfleger told his parishioners what happened there was not justice.

"Murder and hate, injustice and violence have a long history and unfortunately deep roots," he said. "There have always been those who stood up and called us to stand up, and rise up, and straighten up and fight.

In a symbolic gesture, Rev. Jesse Jackson called to the altar all the men and boys of the congregation. They must, he suggested survive to become the future.

Father Pfleger suggested the American justice system is a broken and called on Americans to fix it.
