Fox: 'We Just Didn't Make Plays' In Bears' Loss To Texans
CHICAGO (CBS) -- Bears coach John Fox saw some positives from his team in their 23-14 loss to the Texans on Sunday in the season opener, but said at the end of the day, the Bears just didn't make the plays needed to hold the lead they had at halftime.
"We started fast," Fox told WBBM Newsradio's Josh Liss on Monday.
The Bears went into halftime with a 14-10 lead. Fox said the team ran the ball well, and he thought their young secondary exceeded expectations.
"Really, though, negative at the end of the day is the second half," Fox said. "We just didn't make plays. They made some plays down the stretch."
Although the Bears gave up five sacks, Fox said he believes the offensive line will get better as the players continue to gel, noting they added Pro Bowl left guard Josh Sitton just a week before the season started.
"That was our first week they were together," he said. "You know, we just acquired Josh Sitton. I think they'll just continue to improve. We had to make another switch to plug him in. So I think, with time, them getting on the same page and just kind of uniting there, I think we'll be better moving forward."
