1 killed, 3 injured in 4-vehicle crash on I-90 in Schaumburg

One dead after violent crash on I-90; lane closures to persist

SCHAUMBURG, Ill. (CBS) -- A four-vehicle crash left one driver dead and three others injured eastbound Jane Addams Memorial Tollway in Schaumburg Thursday afternoon.

The high-speed crash happened during the 3 p.m. hour about halfway between Roselle and Meacham roads on I-90, CBS 2's Kris Habermehl reported.

The driver of one of the vehicles was dead at the scene, according to Illinois State Police. The drivers of the other three vehicles were taken to an area hospital with injuries.

The surviving victims' conditions were not immediately available.

All lanes were shut down on eastbound I-90 following the crash, but traffic was getting by on the shoulder. There was also a gapers' block on the westbound side of I-90.

All lanes were back open by the nighttime hours.
