Four people in critical condition after mysterious overdoses at River North night club

CHICAGO (CBS) -- After four mysterious overdoses at a night club in Chicago's River North neighborhood, those people are all in critical condition.

Three men and a woman were taken to local hospitals after an overdose at Y Bar.

People who live in the area say this is alarming.

"Obviously it's very upsetting and it's turning into a such a problem," said Emma Heston.

Paramedics and police were called to the club located at 224 W. Ontario Street just before 3 Sunday morning. When they went inside, they found two men unconscious on the ground. A woman was found unconscious on a couch. It's unclear where the fourth man was found.

A Chicago Fire Department spokesperson said two men were taken to Rush University Medical Center. Another man and woman were rushed to Northwestern. All four were transported in serious to critical condition.

"I mean, we were out and obviously we were careful, but it's just scary overall," said Roshni Goela. "It's just scary with the kids and everything because I know a lot of my family and friends are not trick-or-treating because they're so scared of the kid's candies being laced. I just can't imagine what's happening in clubs."

CFD officials said firefighters gave the four victims narcan, which is a drug that counteracts the effects of opioids or narcotics.

"I think the goal is to always have fun, but I think in today's environment you kind of have to see what that entails for you," said Goela.  "And I think you have to be alert at all times. And it's kind of sad, but that's how it has to be."

It's unclear what drug or drugs the four people took.

So far, there have been no updates on the conditions of the victims as the investigation continues.
