Former Congressional Staffer Replaces Brauer In Illinois House
SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (AP) -- A staffer for a U.S. congressman from Illinois has been sworn in to replace a state lawmaker who resigned from the General Assembly earlier this month.
Tim Butler of Springfield took the oath of office in a ceremony Tuesday morning at the Illinois Capitol in Springfield. He's filling the seat left vacant after former Republican state Rep. Rich Brauer of Petersburg accepted a job with GOP Gov. Bruce Rauner's administration.
A committee made up of central Illinois Republicans selected Butler on Saturday in Springfield from a list of 13 applicants.
Butler previously worked as district chief of staff for Republican Congressman Rodney Davis.
Brauer was appointed to assistant secretary at the Illinois Department of Transportation. He served in the Illinois House for 12 years.
