For Some Chicagoans, Chilly Weather Perfect Time To Head Outdoors

CHICAGO (CBS) -- It certainly doesn't feel like the end of September with temps in the 50s.

CBS 2's Suzanne Le Mignot went out to see how people are weathering the sudden change.

The wind blows hard and the waves are crashing, but the brisk temperature isn't keeping cousins Dan and Sam Cosentino from enjoying a bike ride at 31st Street Beach.

"I like this weather and we'll be out here along with other Chicagoans, probably for the next month," Sam said. "We've been doing this since we were kids."

Dan even thought about a dip in the choppy water.

"I would have just went right by the bottom, let it hit me," Dan said. "I only go a few feet out. It's too dangerous."

Model Ernest Ward braved the waves, wind and cold for four hours during a photo shoot.

"It was a challenge to say the least," Ward said. "It's September and it feels like it's November, yeah, got to love that. It's Chicago. Give it a week or two, it will be 80 again."

Sheridan Hernandez and her son Jake thought this was the perfect day for a picnic.

I love 31st Street. Love 31st Street and check out them waves! They're awesome," Hernandez said.

The cool, comfortable temperatures are expected to last through the week.
