For Seventh Year, Woman Delivers Toys To Kids At Suburban Hospitals

(CBS) -- In this season of giving, there's one woman who has been at it for seven years, providing for hospitalized children in the north and south suburbs.

Jessie Tendayi welcomed youngsters into a playroom at Advocate Children's Hospital in Oak Lawn and let them pick from among hundreds of toys spread all around the room.

Tendayi works in the cafeteria at Advocate Trinity Hospital and bought about 1,300 toys this year and was delivering them to children at Advocate Christ Children's Hospital in Oak Lawn and Advocate Lutheran General Children's Hospital in Park Ridge.

"It's not about to be rich…to get more money from your job. The little you have, you can share that little you have," she says.

One mom whose daughter received a toy called it "awesome."

Tendayi calls her toy giveaway a calling from God, "since I do not have my own children."

Jennifer Landrey's six-year-old son Brody Precup received a couple of toys and Landrey called it, "a wonderful thing."

Jessie Tendayi says she plans to continue her toy giveaway as long as she lives.
