For $18.75 Million, Most Expensive City Mansion For Sale In Lincoln Park

By John Dodge

CHICAGO (CBS) -- Private investor and big-time political donor Timothy Mullen has quietly put his Lincoln Park mansion up for sale for $18.75 million, making it the most expensive single-family home listing in the city.

Curbed Chicago obtained the property's listing photos and reported the home will hit the multiple listing service (MLS) soon.

According to Cook County property records, the home's 2013 market value is $2,758,360. However, that is only the value for one of the home's three parcels of land, according to Maura Kownacki of the county assessor's office.

The mansion sits on a huge lot (3,079 square feet) for Lincoln Park and has a four-car garage and guest house.

The 8,753 square foot three-story home on North Burling has six full baths, two half baths and a beautiful indoor pool.

It also has expertly landscaped gardens and a large indoor screening room.

County property records do not indicate number of bedrooms.

Mullen, a part owner of the Tampa Bay Rays baseball team, is a big-time political donor to both former Mayor Richard Daley and current Mayor Rahm Emanuel.

Campaign finance records show he has donated at least $100,000 to each politician during their mayoral campaigns.

The Mullen estate is priced just slightly higher than Ann Lurie's $18.7 million historic limestone mansion on North Dearborn.

Lurie has given millions of her fortune to charity, most notably $100 million for the new Lurie Children's Hospital in Streeterville.
