Flurries Tonight, Temperatures In the 40s This Weekend

CHICAGO (CBS) -- Parts of the Chicago area could get a dusting of snow overnight, ahead of a warming trend that will see temperatures reach the 40s this weekend.

According to the National Weather Service, light snow was expected to develop after 7 p.m. Wednesday, north of a line from Belvidere, Illinois, to Gary, Indiana.

Meantime, temperatures across the Chicago area were expected to linger in the high 20s and low 30s throughout the day.

Thursday will bring somewhat milder conditions, with a high near 38, though skies will be largely cloudy.

Skies should clear on Friday, though temperatures will stay in the low to mid 30s most of the day.

Temperatures could reach the mid to upper 40s on Saturday and Sunday, before another cooling trend at the start of next week. Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday also bring the chance of rain, and then snow showers are possible next Wednesday, when temperatures will be back in the low 30s.
