Flight To O'Hare Makes Emergency Landing In Peoria

CHICAGO (CBS) -- A flight headed from St. Louis to Chicago made an emergency landing in Peoria on Friday.

According to a spokesperson for General Wayne A. Downing Peoria International Airport, GoJet Airlines flight 3642, operating as United Express, landed safely after experiencing a cabin pressure problem.

There was an indication of smoke in the cockpit, according to a statement from the airline.

After the twin-engine CRJ-700 jet landed at Peoria, it stopped in the middle of the runway, and the 68 passengers were evacuated and taken to the terminal. No injuries were reported.

The airline was sent a replacement aircraft from St. Louis to Peoria to fly passengers the rest of the way to O'Hare International Airport, arriving about two hours 15 minutes behind schedule. Aircraft technicians were examining the original jet to determine why there was an indication of smoke in the cockpit.
